Here Comes Summer: A Season to Play Mindfully, Write Miraculously – Stephanie West Allen

Feeling a little depleted from the rigors of 2020? Join us for Stephanie West Allen’s presentation on playfulness, an attitude, a way of being, that can be valuable in most of life’s endeavors, including writing. Playfulness can boost essential components of the writing process (including imagination, motivation, and creation), and Stephanie will guide us through a look at what neuroscience can teach us about grabbing a reader’s attention, how to be mindful of our own attention, the close alignment between playfulness and miracles, and the benefits of being playful.

Attributes of the attitude of playfulness—such as joy, stress reduction, social connection, improvisation, generosity of spirit, and creativity—are perhaps even more treasured after these last several months of the pandemic. At the end of this workshop, maybe we can declare this summer the season of play?

12:00-1:00 pm

CSI: The Real Story (Not That TV Show) – Lisa N Provost, CCSI, Crime Scene Investigations Supervisor, Aurora Police Department

Mrs. Provost will also give participants a chance to view photographs of suspected crime scenes in order to attempt to determine what happened and if a crime actually occurred.
