Social Media 101: A tutorial for authors

Don’t know a Tweet from a Post? Our Sisters in Crime-Colorado social savvy experts will give an overview of two popular social media platforms and how they each play a different role in marketing, fan base, and sales. Bring a laptop, because this will be a hands -on demo how to create and use Twitter and Instagram, and, how to use each to your advantage. We will hear success stories along with what not to do. Learn the benefits of each platform and glean new content ideas.

Attendees are encouraged to bring: a laptop, a smartphone, their favorite author photo, images of book covers, and/or other brand related images loaded on their device (s). Don’t have a “brand”? By the end of this session you will be on your way.

NecroSearch International: Murder, Mayhem and Mysteries – Diane L. France, Ph.D., D-ABFA

NecroSearch International, Inc. is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that brings together scientists and law enforcement to investigate missing persons cases. Botanists, geologists, geophysicists, hydrologists, anthropologists, members of the Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and many others add their expertise to helping law enforcement find clandestine graves or surface deposits of remains. They then help excavate evidence and human remains from those graves, and to help prepare the case for court. Many of these areas of expertise will be discussed in the presentation.

Diane L. France, Ph.D., D-ABFA is a board certified forensic anthropologist who has been investigating human remains cases for more than 35 years, and has been a member of NecroSearch for over 30 years, including being president (now past president) for years. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1983 and was certified as an expert in forensic anthropology in 1989. She has been on the Board of Directors for the American Board of Forensic Anthropology for over 15 years, and was president for five of those years. She is currently helping to develop standards and guidelines for forensic anthropology as a member of the Organization of Scientific Area Committees, a large group initiated by Congress as a response to the Innocence Project’s calls for reviewing all forensic disciplines and practices.
